Volunteering for St Leonard's can bring volunteers into contact with vulnerable people. As we proceed with your application, we will ask for two references from people who you have known for at least two years, but are not family members.

Disclosure

Because you may come into contact with vulnerable people in carrying out duties as a volunteer for St Leonard's Hospice, voluntary positions are exempt from the provision of Section 4a of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975.

Do you have any convictions, convictions which for purposes are spent under the provision of the Act, cautions, reprimands or final warnings from the police, or any other body whether national or international? *

A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a voluntary position.

You may request to see the St Leonard's Hospice Policy on Selection and Appointment of Volunteers.

How we use your data

Application form and references – we will keep these on file for 6 months. If you are not able to start your volunteering in that time we will securely dispose of paper copies and delete your details from our electronic systems. If you leave once you have started volunteering, your file will be kept securely for 10 years, before being securely disposed of/deleted from our systems. You are welcome to apply for any role at any time.
